The Witcher: Henry Cavill will no longer play the leading role

Season 4 of Netflix's The Witcher series will see a notable change: Henry Cavill will no longer play the role of lead actor Geralt of Rivia, who will be played by Liam Hemsworth. Henry Cavill will still retain the role in Season 3, but will drop out of the project after that.

Here's what Henry Cavill himself says after his departure as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher:

"My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been full of monsters and adventures, and unfortunately, I'll be leaving my locket and swords down in Season 4. In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the White Wolf. As it happens. with the greatest literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I spent playing Geralt and with excitement as I see Liam take hold of this most fascinating and nuanced man. Liam, my good lord, this character has such wonderful depth , have fun diving into it and seeing what you can find.

Liam Hemsworth, who notably starred in The Hunger Games and who incidentally is the brother of Chris Hemsworth (Thor in the Marvel movies), also made a statement:

"As a fan of The Witcher, I'm over the moon to be able to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt and I'm honored to have him hand me the reins and allow me to take on the white wolf's blades for the next chapter in your adventure. Henry, I've been a fan of yours for years and have been inspired by what you've brought to this beloved character. I may have big shoes to fill, but I'm so excited to step into the Witcher universe."

It was not specified why Henry Cavill does not continue the adventure. Is it because he'll have to spend time at DC as Superman? Or does he have other projects that will take his time, like…potentially embodying the future James Bond? Nothing has been said publicly.
