Dev Kit 2023: the mini pc from the redmond giant, with highly attractive performance and price

For years, Microsoft has been trying to make the version of Windows adapted to the ARM architecture more popular, as part of which they already announced Project Voltera, a new development hardware specifically for this platform, last year.

The people from Redmond have now launched the machine, which eventually comes under the much less resounding name "Windows Dev Kit 2023", but considering its performance and price, it has nothing to be ashamed of at all.

The Dev Kit 2023, built in a graceful box reminiscent of the Mac mini, is powered by the 8 cx Gen 3 processor presented last year, the 5G variant of which is also found in Microsoft's latest flagship tablet, the Surface Pro 9. The muscular chip is accompanied by 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage, with 3 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports, which are completed by a Mini Display output and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support. .

The Dev Kit 2023 can handle all this with 2 4K/60 Hz monitors, but if we are willing to lower the resolution, we can connect up to 3 displays. As for the price, Microsoft is asking $599 (net HUF 251,000) for the machine, which means that it is not exactly in the bargain category (for comparison: the Mac mini starts at $699, with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space).

The new hardware is currently available in 8 countries, the closest to us is Germany and France, but it can also be ordered from the UK. Microsoft's goal is to provide developers with a tool that they can use to create their applications for the ARM variant of Windows in a native environment, greatly facilitating the workflow.
