Alleged Windows 12 interface is revealed for the first time

Sources close to Microsoft recently revealed that Windows 11 will not be Microsoft's last operating system, as development on Windows 12 has already begun at its headquarters in Redmond.

During a presentation at the Microsoft Ignite 2022 conference, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella showed a conceptual Windows interface that featured an unusual taskbar with a system tray and widgets appearing at the top of the desktop.

While no further details have been released, the screenshot shown may represent an early concept for Windows 12.

According to a Windows Central report, Microsoft has revealed a prototype interface design for the next version of Windows. The prototype image shown in Ignite 2022 was of very poor quality, so Zach Bowden, editor at Windows Central, recreated it in a graphical editor to give a better idea of ​​what it should look like in reality.

Microsoft is experimenting with these ideas, but it's too early to say whether Windows 12 will look like this. However, the interface shown overall looks much more modern. In the prototype, the icons on the taskbar and clock were moved to the top of the screen, and this is all very similar to macOS. The weather is displayed in the upper left corner. Sources say Windows 12 could be released as early as 2024 as Microsoft returns to a three-year operating system development cycle. However, Microsoft does not officially confirm this information.

Windows 12, codenamed Next Valley, will continue Microsoft's push for a modern Windows experience focused on touch devices. The company has been working in this direction since the days of Windows 8.

For now, this information should be treated as rumors. It is better to wait for official confirmation from Microsoft.
