Geforce RTX 3060: new graphics accelerator manufactured by the brand with 12 GB graphics memory (GDDR6X)
With the release of Nvidia's Geforce RTX 4090 "Ada Lovelace" just around the corner, the company has been relatively quiet about products outside the top tier. So far, no graphics cards with the new architecture and 70 or 60 finish have been confirmed and the news should coexist with the older RTX 3000 “Ampere”. Previously, there was talk of expanding the older generation in the form of the RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X memory and a scaled-down variant of the RTX 3060.
Now the Geforce RTX 3060 gets the latest graphics memory. A new variant of the model from the manufacturer Lenovo has appeared in several online stores, reports Tom Hardware. The difference to the current variant is, in short, that the graphics card's 12GB graphics memory is replaced by the faster GDDR6X memory standard. It's unclear at what frequency the memory runs, but the previous lowest level of 19,000 MHz is likely.
In this case, the memory upgrade provides an increase in memory bandwidth to 456 GB/s, which can be compared to 360 GB/s for the Geforce RTX 3060 with GDDR6. Lenovo's RTX 3060 is currently available for purchase at various stores. Among them are Slovakian Loja Lenovo, North American retailer Provença, as well as “VPCI” and “Loja IPC” through Newegg's platform.
The price says at least 546 USD, which compares to the entry-level RTX 3060 in the US at around 370 USD. This corresponds to just under SEK 7,750 (Swedish currency) including VAT, just above the current minimum price in Sweden, where the RTX 3060 can be obtained for approximately SEK 4,200. In terms of price, it is currently significantly closer to the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti siblings.
