iPhone 14 Pro: one of the best camera phones out there

If there is one certainty in the mobile world, it is that any new iPhone will always come with a quality camera. It's no different for this generation and Apple he once again took great care in adjusting his phone line. So much so that in a test done by DxOMark server experts, the top Pro specification rose to the top positions.

A new camera after years...One of the biggest novelties of the top pair of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is the redesigned camera, which has three sensors with a resolution of 48 + 12 + 12 Mpx. For the first time on Apple phones, we've seen a primary sensor with such a high resolution, and of course the equipment doesn't lack optical image stabilization or Dual Pixel AF.

-Main: 48 MPx 1/1.28″, 1.22μm pixels, f/1.78 aperture, Dual Pixel AF, OIS

-Ultra Wide: 12 Mpx, 1/2.55″, 1.4μm pixels, f/2.2 aperture, Dual Pixel AF

-Telephoto Lens: 12 Mpx, 1/3.5″, f/2.8 aperture, OIS, 3x optical zoom

How did the iPhone 14 Pro do in the test?...Truly sovereign. DxOMark server experts (full test here) awarded him a beautiful 146 points, which was enough for second place in the rankings. The new iPhone 14 Pro wasn't enough for the first Honor Magic 4 Ultimate and was just one point behind it. He then outperformed the third by three points Huawei P50Pro and over five points from its predecessor, iPhone 13Pro. In the field of selfie photos and videos, he has not found an equal.

What went well and what didn't?...The biggest compliment went to the nice rendering of colors in terms of photos and videos, and in both respects the phone also performed excellently in the field of contrast and dynamic range. Photos and videos showed a high level of detail, the autofocus is accurate and fast, and the background blur, i.e. the bokeh effect, was also successful. Electronic image stabilization during video recording is also of high quality and does an excellent job.

Of course, there weren't many shortcomings, and one of the few was aimed at a less-than-ideal representation of the sky. Indoor photos occasionally showed luminance noise and the white balance didn't work perfectly every now and then. Otherwise, there really weren't many shortcomings and the iPhone 14 Pro deservedly took second place. After all, we also appreciate the fact that it takes great photos in our review.

Verdict...If you want a great camera with consistent performance in the vast majority of scenarios, the iPhone 14 Pro is an excellent choice. Apple won with the camera, as it traditionally has, and this year gave us a great lineup with features that belong to the best in the mobile world.
