iFixit encontrou modem Qualcomm X65 dentro do iPhone 14 Pro Max

iPhone 14 Pro Max has Qualcomm modem

While disassembling the latest iPhone 14 Pro Max once it went on sale was a matter of honor for iFixit, Reuters first focused on components that give the device new functionality in the form of satellite communications for emergency text messages. Qualcomm and Apple components are responsible for this.

Firstly, as Reuters explains, the experts at iFixit found a Qualcomm X65 modem inside the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It provides not only operation on fifth-generation terrestrial communication networks, but also access to the so-called n53 band, which will be used by Globalstar satellites for emergency text messaging. The satellite operator intends to use up to 85% of its network capacity to serve Apple.

On Saturday, Apple officials explained to Reuters employees that the company's smartphones also use some proprietary RF components, as well as special software, to deliver emergency text messages via satellite. Qualcomm did not have time to comment on the extent of its involvement in implementing this function. Apple itself intends to enable the ability to send messages over the Globalstar satellite network in November this year following the upcoming iPhone 14 software update.
