The VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) class of aircraft has become the most popular version of the implementation of air taxis. But this technology is quite suitable for common consumer drones. Hong Kong-based startup HEQ is offering its variant of the Swan Voyageur VTOL drone, available now on Kickstarter for $1,300.
Being equipped with four main engines and a tail, it takes off and lands like a helicopter. Having gained the necessary altitude, it switches to horizontal flight mode using fixed wings - but at a higher speed than a conventional quadcopter.
For shooting, a camera is installed on the suspension, transmitting and recording 1080p resolution video at a distance of up to 8 km at 4K 30 frames/sec.
According to HEQ, a 5,500 mAh lithium polymer battery lasts for an hour at a top speed of 90 km/h. In the event of a successful advertising campaign and the launch of mass production, the retail price of the Swan Voyageur will increase to US$1,600.
