The Samsung Galaxy J7 smartphone, released in 2015, received a new software update under the numbers J700FXXU4BVG2 (for model SM-J700F) and J700HXXU3BVG2 (for model SM-J700H).
This update is intended to improve the stability of GPS signal reception on the phone. However, they don't improve Android's security system, which was last updated in April 2018, three years after the smartphone was released.
Aside from the GPS fixes, it is unknown what other changes the firmware contains. It is likely to provide protection against a critical bug or security exploit. Smartphones remain on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.
In recent years, Samsung has greatly improved support for its smartphones and tablets with the latest software updates. A few months ago, the Korean manufacturer promised to deliver four major Android OS updates and up to five years of security updates for its flagship devices.
