DELL

Brand patents method of turning a laptop into a wireless charger for smartphones and gadgets

There is nothing new about wireless charging for a long time – some smartphones are capable of charging other devices. However, no one has yet used the ability to charge smartphones and other gadgets using a laptop in their solutions. The first may be Dell, which has patented the corresponding method.

Even the best laptops have plenty of space on the front panel for wireless charging of electronics like smartphones, according to Dell's USPTO patent application.

At the same time, Order No. 20220239124 does not provide for the integration of charging coils into the case of the laptop itself. Instead, the wireless charging keyboard will be connected to the laptop with magnets, and the keyboard will be powered by a special pin on the computer itself.

It is not yet known how much power, even in theory, this overlay can provide, whether it will be convenient to place a smartphone or any other device on the front panel of a laptop, especially while working - you can type something only in this mode when using a mouse and a separate keyboard.

In addition, there is still no indication that Dell intends to implement the patented solution in new products. It is known that some technologies registered in patent offices wait for years on end.
