NINTENDO

Valve has announced that Steam has officially received support for classic controllers for Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive consoles. They can only be purchased by Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
These controllers have fewer buttons than modern gamepads supported by Steam. But for games that use fewer buttons, they are fine. For example, for small standalone projects, platforms and retro builds. Users can also reconfigure buttons for more convenience.
Nintendo Switch Online service subscribers were able to purchase a Nintendo Entertainment System controller in 2018 and a Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 2019. Then, in 2021, Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive gamepads became available for purchase.
Accessories are primarily designed for games from the Nintendo Switch Online service library. There are currently 93 projects available for the Nintendo Entertainment System, 72 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, 30 for the Sega Mega Drive and 19 for the Nintendo 64. This number will increase over time.
