Analog chip market will have expressive growth this year

After an unprecedented 30% growth in analog chip sales in 2021, the industry expects another strong year, according to experts. In 2022, the corresponding market will also grow at a “double-digit rate”, i.e. more than 10%.

According to IC Insights forecasts, sales of analog semiconductor solutions are expected to grow in 2022 by 12% to $83.2 billion, shipments will increase by 11% to 238.7 billion pieces. The average sales price of qualifying chips is expected to increase by 1% in 2022.

Sales growth of a record 30% in 2021 took the total analog chip market to an unprecedented $74.1 billion, with shipments up 22% to a record 215.1 billion. The 6% increase in average price last year was driven by strong demand and supply chain disruptions.

Sales of all types of analog ICs are expected to grow this year, from amplifier and comparator solutions (up 7%) to automotive chips (17%).

According to IC Insights, the increase in the supply of 5G smartphones and the development of infrastructure for them is one of the factors for the growth of analog chips in 2022 – telecom solutions will account for the largest share of the market. The second place in the analog chip niche will be taken by power management chips.
