Rumor: Spring launch for the iPhone SE 5G and June landing for iOS 16 and macOS 13
Once again, Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter has been fully of tasty tidbits for Apple fans. While not all of the content is good news, there is something to look forward to for those waiting for an updated iPhone SE. It seems Apple could be planning a spring launch event for either March or April, and it would be more than likely that the iPhone SE 2022 could be one of the stars of the show. Unsurprisingly, this will probably end up being a virtual event.
The last Special Edition model, the iPhone SE 2 from 2020, did not support 5G communication, so it seems a reasonable presumption that the upcoming model will feature this technology. In addition, the so-called iPhone SE 5G, which some have labeled the iPhone SE 3 although this could be a misnomer, is likely to get an SoC update too. In terms of design, Gurman expects the iPhone SE 2022 to look like the second-generation model, which was based on the iPhone 8.
As for the second Apple event of 2022, this should be the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that is penciled in for June. There could be some big operating system update launches involved at WWDC 2022, including “iOS 16 (Sydney), tvOS 16 (Paris), macOS 13 (Rome), and watchOS 9 (Kincaid)”. However, it seems this event will also be a virtual one thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
