Xiaomi 12's screen is put to the test
Yesterday, Xiaomi shared images comparing the dimensions of the upcoming 6.28-inch Xiaomi 12 with the 6.1-inch iPhone 13. Today, the company released a video comparing the Xiaomi 12 Pro's screen with the screens of potential competitors.
According to the video, the Xiaomi 12 will receive an AMOLED screen with 2K resolution and dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The video demonstrating the matrix's capabilities was published by product manager Wei Siqi, who is working on the Xiaomi 12 series .
It's important to note that the video not only shows the screen's capabilities, but also for the first time demonstrates the Xiaomi 12 Pro's front panel design in a live video. The display is surrounded by extremely thin bezels, the thickness of which is approximately the same along the entire perimeter. The front camera is not visible in the video, but is known to be located in the center of the top of the screen.
The main features of the screen are low power consumption, 2K resolution and the use of second-generation LTPO technology, which allows you to dynamically adjust the refresh rate based on the frequency of the touch layer, the operation performed and even the content that is being reproduced. Xiaomi claims that the new technology is much better than the “normal” LTPO used, for example, on the iPhone 13.
Judging by the video, while actively scrolling web pages, the screen refresh rate instantly increases to 120 Hz and quickly drops to 10 Hz in standby mode, which has a positive effect on power consumption. When the smartphone detects video content, the refresh rate is fixed at 60Hz for smooth video playback.
Xiaomi will present the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro along with the MIUI 13 at an event on December 28th.
