Google TV Chromecast Fixes Vulnerabilities and Adds Support for Dolby Vision Technology
Google TV Chromecast TV dongle received software update QTSI.210311.036, which fixes several vulnerabilities and adds support for Dolby Vision technology to the device and also improves DRM video decoding performance. The previous update was released six months ago.
The update also adds storage optimizations and management improvements, which is welcome given the small 8GB Chromecast Flash memory on Google TV.
According to the users, after installing the QTSI.210311036 update, an additional 200-300MB of memory became available in the TV keyfob for recording files. Also, there is now a new “Remove apps” command in Settings to free up more memory space. There is also a list of installed apps with an indication of the amount of memory used. This makes it easy to remove unnecessary apps and data.
To update Google TV firmware for Chromecast, select “Settings → System → About System → System Update”. The update size is 158MB, so make sure you have enough memory on your device.
