MOTOROLA

Model "Edge X30 " pops up in a new leak, sparking fresh rumors of a next-gen flagship smartphone

Qualcomm has already confirmed that it will rename its Snapdragon 888 successor to the 8 Gen1 rather than the 898 ahead of this top-end mobile processor's launch later in November 2021. Motorola is said to debut a smartphone based on the cutting-edge silicon soon after.

An executive with the mobile division for Lenovo (Motorola's owner), Chen Jin, may have sought to keep this hype stoked by referencing a raft of specs and features, a "sandwich" of Gorilla Glass and a new "process" that "feels cool in your hand" included.

Those hints might sound encouraging in terms of 8 Gen1 performance and thermal management compared to the 888; then again, it might also easily refer to a new rear panel finish. Nevertheless, Chen Jin does also now purport to confirm a "powerful core" for improved "performance", while also intimating there would be some never-before-seen features in the offing.

This has led to speculation that these attributes will all be found in the novel product name attached to the post in which all these radical claims are found: Edge X30, in a position indicating that such a device was also used to send the message.

Accordingly, it has also led to suspicion that Motorola's 8 Gen1-based phone will launch under this name, and not the Moto Edge X or 30 Ultra as thought previously. However, it could also be the device formerly believed to be the Edge S30, an additional sub-flagship with the Snapdragon 888+ instead. Then again, neither prospect is certain at this point.
