What is the background hill of Windows XP doing in Microsoft Flight Simulator?
Last week, a Reddit user under the nickname rockin_gamer shared his discovery with other forum members: an enthusiast managed to find the same hill in the background of the standard Windows XP desktop in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The iconic image is called "Serenity" (Bliss). The photo captures the landscape of Sonoma County, California, southeast of the Sonoma Valley, in the United States(image above).
Since the moment of the commemorative photo in 1996, the place has been transformed into a vineyard, so in Microsoft Flight Simulator the famous website appears in a slightly different color than many remembered.
According to rockin_gamer, he tried to recreate the iconic angle and configuration as much as he could, but was unable to achieve a cloud position identical to the original source. Even so, the enthusiast is satisfied with the result achieved - the place is recognizable(image below).
If you want to visit “Serenity” in Microsoft Flight Simulator, you can do it yourself: just enter the appropriate coordinates (38 ° 15'00.5 ″ N 122 ° 24′38.9 ″ W) in the game and go to marked point.
The world of Microsoft Flight Simulator was built on satellite data: most of the space available for research was recreated correctly, although not without inaccuracies.
Microsoft Flight Simulator was released on August 18 this year for PC (Steam, Windows 10) and, in the future, will arrive on Xbox One. The version for the digital store Valve has an inconvenient installer, but the utility does not limit the possibilities of players.
