Recall: Dell XPS 15 9500 with screen hinge problem

Previously, owners of Dell XPS laptops faced a problem, which consisted of a poorly attached touchpad, which made it sway during use and cause some inconvenience. Dell insisted that the problem did not affect functionality, but ended up offering users a free fix for the defect. Now it has been learned that the display hinges of the same laptops have malfunctioned.
Messages began to appear on Reddit and Dell's technical support forum where users complain that the laptop's lid spontaneously opens as soon as it is lifted from a flat surface. The front of the lid rises about an inch, as if the magnetic clamps cannot hold it.
Some users suggest that the problem lies in the very low weight of the Full HD matrix, which may not exert enough force to drive the magnets. For reference, the Full HD panel weighs significantly less than the 4K touch panel that this laptop also comes with. It has also been observed that pushing the back of the hinges temporarily resolves the problem, which may indicate a malfunction of the hinge mechanism. However, this will only remain a guess until Dell recognizes the problem.
According to users, in some cases, the company exchanges laptops that are affected by this problem. However, frequently replaced devices have the same problem. Dell itself has not yet commented on the situation.
