Trademark files patent application for full-screen fingerprint sensor
Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, according to Internet sources, is patenting a technology that will allow the entire surface of the smartphone screen to be used for fingerprint reading.
Many modern cellular devices have a fingerprint reader integrated directly into the display area. However, fingerprints are only read in a certain area on the bottom half of the panel.
Huawei's development will make it possible to capture fingerprints on any section of the touchscreen. According to the company's idea, as a result, it will be possible to qualitatively implement new functions.
For example, it will simplify the identification of users in various applications. For example, instead of first starting the program and then authenticating using the fingerprint sensor, a mode can be activated in which the user will be recognized immediately when touching the application icon.

In addition, Huawei technology will expand the capabilities of the lock screen: the user can quickly access personal information, messages, etc.
It is also noteworthy that the operation of the system can be configured so that the fingerprints are read only in a specific area of the screen.
