Company launches prototype of ebook with smart reader

A technology journal posted a video demonstrating some of the capabilities of a foldable e-book prototype developed by E Ink.
The new prototype is an enhanced version of the foldable prototype of the e-reader shown by the company in June this year. It is said to have a stronger hinge now, as well as five buttons on the right side to control functions and two LED strips at the top of the screen for backlighting. In addition, the e-book reader supports Wacom technology for notes, annotations and pen highlights of individual pieces of text.
Unlike conventional readers, the new E Ink with the same screen size takes up less space thanks to the foldable form factor. Again, the device looks more like a familiar book or notebook. We’ll add the ability to annotate and sync content for reading, and we’ll end up with a very interesting gadget.
At the same time, it is surprising that the device still needs improvement: the frames that surround the prototype screen are huge and the folding panels themselves resemble gadgets from the 1990s. In addition, the ability to annotate e-books is still is limited by low latency. So, in this regard, they are still lagging behind in the convenience of the traditional notebook and old-fashioned pen.
