APPLE

Company fulfills threat and removes Epic Games from the App Store

In mid-August, Apple announced its intention to remove the Epic Games account from the App Store if developers continue to violate the rules of the platform by supporting their own payment mechanism in the popular Fortnite game. Apple moved from threats to action and removed the Epic Games account, blocking the studio's access to development tools on iOS and macOS.
It is important to note that, although the Epic Games account was actually deleted at this point, the profile associated with Unreal Engine continues to work. Apple would probably like to remove it as well, but the court had previously banned it until the lawsuit with Epic Games was completed.
Fortnite has not been available for download on the App Store in recent weeks, but other popular titles from Epic Games, such as Infinity Blades Stickers and Battle Breakers, have remained available to users. Now that the developer's account has been closed, these apps are no longer on the App Store. Interestingly, Fortnite continues to work on iOS devices where the game was downloaded before it was removed from the digital store.
Apple confirmed in a statement that the Epic Games account was deleted and regretted this.
"We are disappointed that we had to delete our Epic Games App Store account. We have worked with the Epic Games team for many years on their launches. The court recommended that Epic adhere to the platform principles during the trial, following the rules that the company followed in the past decade. Epic declined. Instead, they repeatedly downloaded Fortnite updates that violate App Store policies. This is unfair to all other App Store developers and is drawing users into Epic struggles. to be able to work together in the future, but unfortunately that’s not possible today”-Apple said in a statement.
While Fortnite continues to run on Apple devices, it has been announced that the in-app purchase feature will be phased out, which will make the game less engaging.
Remember that the conflict between Apple and Epic Games started in mid-August, when, along with the next update, Fortnite has its own payment mechanism, which allows for the purchase of content while ignoring the 30% service charge of Apple.
