Smartphone sales grow 2020 amid pandemic

Strategy Analytics predicts that online cell phone sales will hit record highs this year, helped by the coronavirus.
In the context of the pandemic, many telecommunications stores and outlets have temporarily closed, and consumers around the world have been forced to isolate themselves for weeks. This caused an increase in traffic to all types of Internet trading platforms.
According to Strategy Analytics, last year, the share of smartphone sales online represented approximately 24% of the total sales of these devices. This year, the contribution of Internet channels is expected to reach 28%. Thus, more than a quarter of all smartphones sold in 2020 will be acquired through chain stores.

It should also be noted that, in general, the demand for smartphones has seriously decreased due to the spread of coronavirus infection. It is estimated that approximately 1.36 billion smart cell phones were shipped worldwide last year. This year, analysts predict, the pandemic will cause a 15.4% drop in the market. As a result, deliveries will drop to 1.15 billion units.
