Company announces support for translating text by photo on KaiOS

It became known that Google added a new feature to its proprietary voice assistant on the KaiOS platform. We are talking about the function of translating text from a photo, implemented through the Google Lens service. The tool is currently available to KaiOS phone users in India.
As a reminder, KaiOS is a Linux-based mobile operating system, designed for use on push-button phones. At the same time, KaiOS supports some of Google's services and, last year, the mobile platform was used by around 80 million phones worldwide. If we consider the prevalence of KaiOS in India, according to the available data, in 2018, it surpassed the popularity of iOS and came in second place after Android.
The update adds a camera translation button dedicated to Google Assistant for KaiOS. After clicking on it, you can take a picture of something that contains text and the wizard will translate it into one of the supported languages and, if necessary, read the translation out loud. Currently, English translations and seven common dialects in India are available.
It is worth mentioning that in 2018 Google invested 2 million in KaiOS. In addition, in recent years, serious work has been done to ensure that more Google services and applications are made available to users of push-button phones.
