APPLE

Company is fighting against time due to the launch of new iPhone components

The period of self-isolation could not fail to affect the preparation for the announcement of new iPhone models with 5G support, since not only the component manufacturers suffered, but also the process of developing new devices. Apple engineers started returning to work only in June and now all participants in the process need to catch up.
The organization of Apple's business processes severely limited the ability to develop mobile devices remotely; therefore, in June, the work intensified as the specialists returned to their offices. If previously there was a possibility of a delay in the start of mass deliveries of new iPhones until the beginning of next year, as noted by Nikkei Asian Review with reference to informed sources, now the amount of delay will not exceed two months, if you focus in September as a “reference period” for the ad.
Typically, pre-production samples of Apple smartphones manufactured and certified by the end of May, and this year the process dragged on until the end of June. Company partners involved in component manufacturing also need to work overtime to meet scheduled ad dates. Gradually, it is possible to make some progress in terms of approaching the beginning of the supply of devices in the iPhone 12 family.
Assembly of this generation's smartphones in large quantities at the current standby stage is unlikely to begin before October, but that at least does not prevent Apple from announcing new products in September. The main model of the iPhone 12 for the US market, with a millimeter band of 5G networks, is still a few months behind because it is more difficult to manufacture due to the special antenna configuration. Models for other markets lag behind the chart by a month and a half of strength.
Sources say that at the beginning of the year, Apple expected to launch 100 million smartphones with 5G support, but in the face of a pandemic and economic uncertainty, it adjusted the plan to 80 million units. It is argued that this value may not be final.
According to the Nikkei Asian Review, Apple has increased the number of orders for the launch of smartphones of the previous generation in order to create enough inventory in case of a delay in the actual debut of the iPhone 12. In the second half of the year, company should launch at least 45 million smartphones on the iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone models. SE. According to GF Securities, this year Apple will ship no more than 184 million smartphones, 4% less than the previous year. Competitor sales will collapse more strongly: 15% for Samsung and 19% for Huawei. The latter, consequently, will lose the status of the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. American sanctions will contribute a lot to this.
