US officials close to closing deal with giants Nokia or Ericsson

American officials are seriously concerned about the need to develop the national infrastructure of 5G networks in some way without using Huawei equipment. Several measures are discussed, including indirect participation in the acquisition of assets from Nokia or Ericsson - European equipment suppliers that compete with Huawei.
A new step in the discussion of measures to develop the American communications network infrastructure was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing well-informed sources. Experts offer several ways to attract European companies to the US market. These include mentioning Cisco's assistance in purchasing assets from Nokia or Ericsson, or assigning this mission to a government-controlled investment consortium. The formation of an “open environment” is also proposed, which would allow telecommunications operators to use equipment from multiple suppliers to develop a single network in the United States. Now, the telecommunications equipment of a given brand is usually linked to related software, which makes it difficult to integrate individual network segments into a common structure.
The loyalty of European telecommunications equipment suppliers, to which Samsung can also join, is offered due to various fiscal preferences or state participation in infrastructure development. Ericsson representatives are skeptical of the idea of government interference in the activities of private companies, and Samsung considers it necessary to recall that it is already producing several electronic components in the United States, including processors for base stations. A Korean company in Texas has a main business.
Some experts are not concerned about the more stable financial situation of European telecommunications equipment manufacturers, and representatives from Cisco talk about possible investments in their capital only in the context of inevitable government subsidies. The development of young American companies offering telecommunications equipment is far behind the needs of the market. Huawei representatives consider it necessary to note that large financial injections cannot solve the problem, because it takes years to develop advanced technologies.
So far, American officials are interested in spreading the fight against Huawei internationally. In particular, they create lists of “clean” companies in the telecommunications sector that avoid using Huawei equipment and, in every possible way, stir up other governments to follow suit. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair recently announced that current officials are unlikely to want to conflict with the U.S. position on the use of Huawei equipment in the development of British infrastructure.
