Anel capaz de detectar sintomas da covid-19 será disponibilizado aos jogadores da NBA
Ring capable of detecting covid-19 symptoms will be made available to NBA players

The NBA Players Association (NBPA) will provide athletes and staff from participating league teams with a smart ring capable of predicting symptoms of covid-19 with accuracy greater than 90%. The technology measures the body temperature, respiratory activity, heart rate and sleep patterns of its users.
This is what the American magazine "The Athletic" says. The use of the ring will not be mandatory, according to the NBPA. All data collected by the utility can be accessed through a smartphone application.
According to a recent study published by the Rockfeller Institute for Neuroscience at the University of West Virginia, data monitored by the ring could alert covid-19 symptoms in three days.
"If we can provide information about asymptomatic people who may be spreading the virus and help with earlier detection with this technology, it can better inform decision-making, facilitate security and prioritize who will do the tests and other health containment strategies" , explained the Institute's executive president, Dr. Ali Rezai, to the United States HQ magazine.
US ESPN journalist Zach Lowe said teams would not have exclusive access to player data. According to him, the information will only be provided if there is any indication that the athlete has contracted the covid-19. The NBA season will end in a kind of "bubble", created at Disney parks in Orlando. The league has been suspended since March 11 and its restart is scheduled for July 30.
