The Mandalorian: Jon Favreau says Season 2 will not suffer delays
The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted film and series productions around the world, but filmmaker Jon Favreau, creator and producer of "the Mandalorian", believes that the 2nd season of his series will be released on the scheduled date, during October on the platform.
” We were lucky enough to finish the recordings before the lockdown, " Favreau said during a virtual panel for the ATX Television Festival, moderated by journalist Anthony Breznican of Vanity Fair magazine. And he revealed “ " thanks to the evolution of Lucasfilm and [effects company] ILM (Industrial Light & Magic), we were able to make all our visual effects, edit and post-produce remotely, through systems that were created by these companies for us”"
Favreau also added that Season 2 really feels like a continuation of the series ' highly praised first year and not a new accomplishment, even though it brings new characters and a new crew of directors behind the cameras. And he concluded “ " it was really very fun and rewarding, and I hope people will have as much fun seeing it as we do." The production was shot under a veil of secrecy, but some names of the new cast have already leaked, such as Michael Biehn (star of “the exterminator of the future” and “Aliens”) and Timothy Olyphant (“Santa Clarita Diet”), who will live hitherto unknown characters. Other performers had their participation aligned to established roles in the “Star Wars " franchise, cases of Temuera Morrison ("Aquaman“), who will be Boba Fett, Katee Sackhoff (”Battlestar Galactica“) as Bo-Katan and Rosario Dawson (”Luke Cage") in the role of Ahsoka Tano.
Behind the cameras, the novelties are the involvement of filmmakers Robert Rodriguez (”Alita: fighting Angel“) and Peyton Reed (”Ant-Man and The Wasp").
Just like Netflix and Amazon, Disney+ does not disclose audience data, but Season 1 of "the Mandalorian" has made a big impact on pop culture thanks to Baby Yoda, a character who has become a phenomenon of memes and product sales.
