MICROSOFT

Company released an update for Windows 7

Microsoft discontinued support for the Windows 7 software platform in January this year and has not received any updates since. It has now become clear that developers have released an update for Windows 7 that adds a new Chromium-based Edge browser to the operating system, which was previously available on Windows 10 devices.
We are talking about the update KB4567409, which recently became available to users of Windows 7-based devices. In its description, it says that after installation, the Microsoft Edge browser will appear on the operating system. The update is compatible with Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 and its distribution started on June 17. Also note that the installation package is intended for non-commercial users.
As for the changes made by KB4567409, the following is known:
-after installing Microsoft Edge, the browser shortcut will dock on the taskbar and be added to the desktop,
-the new Microsoft Edge will not replace Internet Explorer,
-the default browser will not be changed.

It is worth mentioning that, after installation, the browser is automatically updated, although the operating system itself has not received updates since January of this year.If you do not want to use the new Chromium-based Edge browser on Windows 7, unlike Windows 10 users , you can skip this update as it is not required for installation.
