Opinion | A host of Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro owners are still without EMUI 10

Back in February, Huawei claimed that the Mate 10 Pro and P20 Pro would receive the EMUI 10 update in March. Here we are months after, though, and most owners of the two phones remain stuck on EMUI 9.1. Comparatively, phones from that generation like the LG G7, Galaxy S9, and OnePlus 6 have all received Android 10.
Huawei's EMUI 10 rollout has been, well, erratic. The company started out by supplying the Android 10-based EMUI 10 update to its flagships like the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro on time, but things have been a lot iffier since then, especially with older phones like the P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro.
The Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro are rightfully entitled to two major OS updates; of which EMUI 10 will be the second. And yet, for some reason, nine months after Android 10 was released, most owners of the P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro remain on EMUI 9.1.
Back in February, Huawei officially confirmed that the Mate 10 Pro would start getting the EMUI 10 update globally. The P20 Pro was similar, as a select number of owners in Asia actually even received the EMUI 10 update. Since then, however, the EMUI 10 update for those phones is yet to reach Europe.
We're not sure why Huawei continues to dawdle with the EMUI 10 update. Phones in that generation from other companies—the Galaxy S9, OnePlus 6, and LG G7—have all received the Android 10 update. It's extremely weird to know that LG is being better with updates than Huawei. Even though the latter is hardly a role model in that regard, it has typically been better than LG.

Huawei's official page currently says the EMUI 10 update will be sent out to the Mate 10 Pro and P20 Pro by the middle of June. Hopefully, it doesn't get delayed again.
