Swiss mark launches two watches in honor of Ayrton Senna

In 2019, fans of Ayrton Senna, one of the biggest names in motorsport of all time, remember the 25 years of his untimely and tragic death. Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer has also decided to pay tribute to the Brazilian idol.
Senna, by the way, has a history with TAG Heuer. In 1991, it was the face of the “Don't Crack Under Pressure” watchmaking campaign.
The brand launches two limited edition watches that illustrate the admiration for Senna and her legacy. The watches feature design that is inspired by the favorite model of the Brazilian watch.

At 45mm, it features a matte black ceramic case and a tachometer scale bezel that are subtly accented by the yellow and green colors of the Brazilian flag. The model is presented with a green stitching on the black leather and rubber strap and a yellow “S” for Senna on the chronograph. “Senna” is written in yellow on the fixed frame. A stylized image of Senna, yellow and green, on his instantly recognizable helmet, is engraved on the back of the case made of sapphire crystal.

The issue features an engraving of Senna's iconic helmet in its bolted steel case and its white-colored name located at 1 o'clock on the tachometer-scale polished black ceramic bezel. This watch is fitted with an S-shaped sports strap, which Senna liked, and also has an extension to allow it to be worn over a racing uniform. The limited edition 44mm watch displays a hint of red on the lacquer, center second hand, and counter hands indices. The small white dials at 6 and 9 o'clock and a small black dial at 12 o'clock stand out from the anthracite brushed dial. This stainless steel watch is kept by the Caliber 16 automatic winding chronograph.
