RICOH
Theta SC2 360-degree camera renders and specifications leaked
Some renders and the specifications of the upcoming Ricoh Theta SC2 360-degree camera have appeared online. The pictures show the device in a range of pastel colors and it sports a similar design language to the Theta SC. According to the leaked specifications, the Theta SC2 has the ability to record 4K video at 30 fps.
If you were ever curious about delving into 360-degree camera photography but were uncomfortable about spending a fortune on equipment, then Ricoh’s entry-level Theta SC series could be an option. The current device in the lineup costs US$199.95 but that model is starting to age a bit – it was released in October 2016. A successor, conveniently called the Theta SC2, is expected in the not-too-distant future and details about the camera have now been shared online by Nokishita.
Apart from the pleasant range of colors that incorporates beige, blue, pink, and white, the Ricoh Theta SC2 360-degree camera also comes with 2x 12 MP sensors, 14 GB built-in memory, and the above-mentioned capacity for shooting 4K video at 30 fps. Still images can be taken at a resolution of up to 5376x2688 and there is enough power and storage to record video for three minutes. There’s even a built-in audio channel.
The price and release date for the Ricoh Theta SC2 have not been shared yet, but it’s likely the 360-degree camera will be on the way soon, especially now renders and specification details have cropped up online. As an entry-level camera, the Theta SC2 is likely going to be priced between its Theta SC predecessor and the advanced Theta V model (US$379.95).
