DIGITAL LIFE

What is FoMO syndrome?

That we stay connected all the time on the cell phone and on the computer is no secret. Speed is intimately connected to the internet and so we often find that we are losing opportunities when we are not connected. In the middle of this process we ended up not being connected with ourselves and distancing ourselves from the practice of investing in interpersonal relationships. The combination of all these factors led to the development of the so-called FoMO syndrome.

What is FoMO syndrome?
FoMO syndrome, or Fear of Missing Out, is a psychological pathology that develops precisely because of the fear of not being able to follow the technologies or stay out of this technological universe. It is the anguish that arises when we feel that we are missing something.

What are the factors that imply FoMO syndrome?
The syndrome is basically formed by the combination of anxiety, stress and Burnout. How to appease these factors?

-Anxiety
The basis of anxiety is the fear of error, insecurity: I anticipate the facts because I cannot bear the idea that I can err. The first step when we are anxious, stresses Kurotel's psychologist, Michael Zanchet, is to seek to balance the organism and oxygen (breathing) rates. Remember that not everything in life has to be fast, there are many situations that we need to stop, think and only then act.

-Stress
The psychologist also comments that stress has to do with perception, the way one interprets a real or imaginary fact, and that it can generate a state of alert in the organism. This alert reduces the capacity for reflection and action. Chronic, it causes physical and emotional wear and tear in the body.

-Burnout
Burnout is characterized by intense physical and mental wear due to overwork. The imbalance in any situation in life will cause damage, so we need physical, personal and professional development. Attention: one area did not supply the other. Many times, people focus too much on a single area, being an escape to supply a personal or perhaps affective need, and end up in a professional vicious cycle.

What to do?
The human being needs relaxation, physical activity, interpersonal and affective relationship, profession, financial organization and spirituality to live in a balanced way and with greater well-being. Thus, it is possible to live more fully and better manage health risk factors such as anxiety, stress and Burnout.
