NUBIA

Dual-screen Z20 global launch set for October 14

Chinese company Nubia launched the Nubia Z20 on August 8 as the first non-gaming smartphone to feature a Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The smartphone is already on sale in China but until now, nothing was known about its global release. Nubia is said to be planning to release the Z20 at the same time on multiple fronts outside China. The company will launch the device in the US, Europe, Canada, and the UK on October 14.
The Nubia Z20 comes with a spectacular dual-display design. The main display is a 6.42-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. While at the rear, there is an equally impressive 5.1-inch AMOLED display with a similar full HD+ resolution. Both displays come with Always-On feature and can independently show two different Always-on Display (AOD) contents.
The screens can be used to view two apps simultaneously but it is still a mystery what we’ll need that. Perhaps, the most important thing you’ll get front such a massive display is to use it as a virtual button for selfies and also as a viewfinder while using the rear-mounted triple cameras.
Apart from the dual displays, the Nubia Z20 packs a powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset with up to 8 GB of RAM. It lacks a microSD card slot but offers users with up to 512GB internal storage. However, the global variant will be available in 128GB storage only. The phone runs Android Pie-based Nubia UI 7 out of the box and has two fingerprint readers – one each on the left and right side. The device equally has a 4,000 mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. The global variant will be available in two colors – Diamond Black and Twilight Blue.

The price is yet to be unmasked but the 8GB+128GB variant retails for 3,499 Yuan (~$497) in China. So, it would likely retail at over $500. But you stand a chance to win a Z20 unit when you participate in Nubia’s “Unbox the Future” campaign. Apart from the grand prize of a Z20 unit, the company is also giving away gift cards from Amazon and Google Play among other things.
