Branded smartphones with graphene battery may arrive by 2020

Samsung may be closer to launching its handsets whose batteries are produced with graphene technology. The company has already announced that it is developing a technique that could increase the power capacity of this component, but production costs are still extremely high. However, new information from Evan Blass suggests that the company already has plans to market handsets with the system next year.
In his Twitter profile, he said that graphene batteries could reach the devices by 2020 or, at most, by 2021.
“Lithium-ion batteries are not ideal. Samsung believes it already has the first device next year or by 2021, I am told, with a graphene battery in place. Total charging capacity is less than half an hour. They still need to improve capabilities and lower costs, ”wrote Blass.
Blass is known for having industry insider information and anticipating market information with high assertiveness. For this reason, it is possible to give credibility to information.
Samsung filed a patent for the technology in 2017. Another well-known industry insider, Max J., said Samsung completed the development of graphene batteries in 2018.
Parts can hold up to 45% more charge than a current lithium-ion battery used in company (and industry-wide) handsets. This is because graphene conducts better electricity and takes longer to deteriorate. This also explains the higher reload speed.
The problem, in fact, still lies in the cost of production. Samsung does not open information about this, but according to Blass's survey, it has not yet been reduced enough to gain scalability, Samsung subsidize the technology, or pass the price on to the user.
Despite information from Blass, Samsung has not yet confirmed a smartphone with graphene battery.
