MOTOROLA

The brand's new smartphone arrives with Android 9

A new leak suggests that the Moto E line of smartphones may be getting a new generation soon. Geekbench has allegedly added scores for a "motorola moto e(6) plus", running on an SoC that may be the Helio P22. It runs on Android 9 and has 2GB of RAM.
The Moto E series has been a compelling option among budget smartphones. This was due to the presence of front-facing speakers in its early days. As with many Motorola devices, this no longer remains an option. However, the latter-day Es do retain the design language found in their higher-end counterparts, and yet have a history of costing around US$100. It now seems that the OEM has at least 1 E6 variant in the works.
This device is allegedly a successor for the Moto E5 Plus. This is due to a report of a device with a relevant name (motorola moto e(6) plus) joining the ranks of phones with Geekbench single- and multi-core scores. According to this listing, it is powered by the Helio P22 processor. This SoC is found in other existing devices in the $100-150 range. The "Moto E6 Plus" can run Android 9, apparently. It also has 2GB RAM, which as the E5 Plus had as much as 3, is a surprise. Judging by the putative device's predecessor, one might also expect that it could have an approximate 6-inch display and perhaps about 32GB of RAM. by Deirdre O Donnell
