The UK's cybersecurity unit, which investigates Huawei's risks to the country's network, the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Center (HCSEC), has found "serious vulnerabilities in Huawei's products."
"Several hundred vulnerabilities and issues have been reported to UK operators to report their management and risk resolution in 2018. Some vulnerabilities identified in earlier versions of the products continue to exist," read the HCSEC report that takes advantage of to criticize China's "basic engineering competence and cybersecurity hygiene."
The same report reveals that "if an attacker is aware of these vulnerabilities and sufficient access to exploit them, they may be able to affect network operation" and "access user traffic or reconfigure network elements."
Huawei has already reacted and said that he took the report "very seriously," adding that it will carry out three to five years to solve the problems. In reaction, the HCSEC calls for a greater commitment from the Chinese company to address the vulnerabilities pointed out. Miguel Dias
