DIGITAL LIFE
WhatsApp is consistently among the most commonly used messaging applications, but that does not mean it takes full advantage of all its capabilities. WhatsApp 'hides' a series of surprises available only to the more curious but, as Deco notes, there are features you have to know.
Among them is the ability to use WhatsApp directly on the computer. You only have to access the WhatsApp website and choose 'WhatsApp Web'. This will cause a QR code to appear on the screen, which must be read by choosing the same option - the WhatsApp Web - from the home screen of the messaging app. Once you have read the code, you will have access to all your conversations.
You can also turn off the WhatsApp read receipt, preventing the blue double check from being displayed to your contacts. To do so, you will need to go to 'Settings' and go to the 'Privacy' area of your 'Account', simply uncheck 'Read receipts'.
If you think that WhatsApp is just for sharing fun pictures, videos and GIFs then you still do not know the ability to send files, be it Word, PDF or Zip. You only have to select the '+' or the clip symbol next to the field where you can write messages and select the 'Document' option.
It is still in this area that you can also send your location. Once you choose Location, you'll be taken to another screen where you can share your current location or allow your contact to follow your live location. This is a valuable security feature, especially if you have to drive late at night and feel secure if anyone knows where you are.
Finally, we'd like to highlight the ability to archive conversations in WhatsApp. If you want to clear your home screen, simply press a conversation for a few moments until the options appear at the top of the screen. Simply press a file symbol to send a conversation to another area of the application, which you can access through 'Archived Conversations' that you can find at the end of your conversations. Simply press and unarchive to return it to the initial screen. Miguel Dias
