The WhatsApp 'trick' that will help you save space on your smartphone

If you're a WhatsApp user and you're wondering why you're running low on your smartphone's storage space so quickly, there's one thing you might be missing out on the messaging app. It turns out that the messaging app automatically downloads all the pictures and videos your friends send you.
This means that you may be unknowingly storing all the photographs, 'print screens', images of memes, and videos your friends share in the groups where you are present. All this is then stored internally on your smartphone, which means that you are constantly running out of space for your own photos and videos.
Fortunately there is a way to prevent this from happening by helping you prevent WhatsApp from automatically downloading any shared images and videos.
On Android you will have to go to 'Settings', enter 'Data and storage usage' and go to the 'Media auto-download' area. Once here you can choose under which conditions the app should download photos / videos automatically if you have Wi-Fi connection, mobile data or roaming. If you understand, the app will never download media automatically.
In iOS, you will also need to go to 'Settings' and 'Data and storage usage' and go to the area of ​​'Media auto-download'.
