NINTENDO
Company may abandon the console Market
Nintendo is now a brand automatically associated with the video game market but, according to President Shuntaro Furukawa, that image may fade in the future if the company decides to stop producing game consoles. In an interview with Nikkei (via Nintendo Everything), Furukawa left that possibility open.
"We're not fixated on our consoles. For now, we offer the unique Nintendo Switch and its games and that's what we are basing on to offer the 'Nintendo experience'. That said, technology changes. We will continue to think flexibly about how to deliver this experience over time, "Furukawa said.
The executive also pointed out that although Nintendo produced consoles for "more than 30 years", the company's history was not just about video games. "The story of Nintendo is older than that and over all the challenges they faced, the only thing they thought about was what to do next. In the long run, perhaps our focus as a business may move away from home consoles - flexibility is just as important as naivety, "he reflected. Miguel Dias
