Merkel data and hundreds of German politicians were hacked
Data and documents from hundreds of German politicians, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, were hacked and released online.
The information was released days before Christmas on a Twitter account that was activated in mid-2017. The leak affects all parties in Parliament, with the exception of the far right Alternative for Germany (AfD), according to RBB .
A spokeswoman for the German government said the incident was taken very seriously.
The content disclosed includes personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, internal party communications and, in some cases, credit card accounts and details.
The dpa news agency reported that the published data would include Merkel's fax number and e-mail address, as well as several letters written by her or intended for her.
According to the spokeswoman, the leak did not involve politically sensitive information or documents from the chancellery.
It is not yet known who is responsible for the leak. Source:Globo Agency
