'Blindly'. Film inspires new (and dangerous) Internet challenge
If you thought that last year's challenge of eating detergent capsules was the most irresponsible attitude you could see on the Internet, 2019 is entitled to the first viral challenge. The challenge in question is called the Bird Box Challenge and refers to movie 'Bird Box' which was recently released by Netflix. As the Business Insider explains, the challenge simply entails that participants tape their eyes with banners (as in the film) and try to go about their normal lives.
The problem is that, like the protagonist of the film (played by Sandra Bullock), the participants do the same thing to their children, putting themselves not only to themselves but also to children in danger. Below you can see some Twitter posts with the challenge in question.
In reaction, Netflix has posted on Twitter a message urging fans to 'Blind' not to try this challenge: "I can not believe we have to say this but: PLEASE DO NOT MAGOEM WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We do not know how this started, and we are grateful for all the love, but the Boy and the Girl have only one wish for 2019 and it is not to end up in the hospital because of memes. "
