Human Terrain: visualizar a população mundial em mapa 3D
Human Terrain: viewing the world population on 3D map
The project seeks to show in a simple and direct way the concentration of the population spread around the world, in 3D format. Simply choose a country or region of the globe and visualize the population "peaks", and even make comparisons of growth with previous years.
Human Terrain (https://pudding.cool/2018/10/city_3d/) uses data from the Global Human Settlement Layer, using satellite imagery, census data and other geographic information to create 3D population density on maps. The information is then processed through the Google Earth engine. Still, not all countries allow access to population data, such as India or China, the authors of the site report.
Each block on the map represents 250 to 5,000 square feet and the higher it is, the more people inhabit that area. The site has a kind of guided tour (Fly with us), transporting the user to curious regions, such as the United States, which according to the map has 320 million people, 10 cities reach the million inhabitants. In contrast, China has 100 cities with more than one million people, and the country's total is uncertain.
In comparisons, it is possible to see, for example, which regions have grown from 1975 to 2015, or those that have lost population. Sapo
