Google Waves Goodbye To Storing Unsupported Video Formats, Introduces Paid Options On Google One

Google's cloud storage has always been an excellent place to store data. Whether it be photos, videos, documents or even unheard file types for the most part, google's cloud would take it all. That is up until now. Android Police identified a change that made Google their site. Google has announced that they will no longer provide free unlimited storage for unsupported video formats. Though google supports a wide variety of formats:
.mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and. mkv files,
The most popular unsupported formats are .VOB, and for content creators, .RAW.
The Solution
If Googles cloud storage solution seems like the way to go for you, there is a way that these unsupported file types could still be stored. Sadly, it is a solution that requires a small investment from the user. For a measly sum of $ 1.99 a month, users can opt for Google One storage that allows them more file types for storage and 100GBs of added storage. If this is not enough then for $ 2.99 Google will give you 200GBs of storage. If this is not enough to satisfy your storage needs then Google will give you 2 terabytes of storage for $ 9.99 a month
Though most users will be indifferent to these changes, it is still upsetting that Google is capitalizing on format support but then maybe there is a bigger picture that we do not know about. Umang Chauhan
