"Smartphones are used to spy on our movements"
A group of consumer organizations is concerned about the type of data collected by Google about its users, particularly with regard to sexual orientation, political inclination, lifestyle and religious choice.
Given this scenario, RTP reports, this group is finalizing a complaint to present to regulators. The issue is the 'Google's tracking system', ie 'Google's tracking system'.
This issue is closely related to the location system, and according to the organizations that are signatories to the complaint, the Internet's main search engine does not give users the ability to turn off the location system.
Monique Goyens, general director of BEUC (a consumer advocacy group), revealed that "the hunger for data from Google is notorious - the situation is very alarming: smartphones are being used to spy on all our movements."
For its part, Google defends itself, explaining that the user of the most popular search engine has the ability to turn off the location system. The technological giant also realizes that, by default, the system appears off and after it is activated, it can be paused. N. M.
