Game of the moment may end the year with a profit of three billion dollars
The year 2018 was the year that 'Fortnite' became a pop culture hit, reaching new heights of popularity as well as number of players. It seems that the latest Epic Games success - also known as the 'Unreal Tournament' and 'Gears of War' series - can end the year in the best way.
According to sources close to Epic Games to TechCrunch, 'Fortnite' could end the year with a profit in excess of three billion dollars, or approximately 2.6 billion euros. Although the game is free, the revenue comes from in-game microtransactions and, to help, is the fact that 'Fortnite' is available for almost all current platforms.
The popularity of 'Fortnite' is not just that it's a free game but very much in 'Battle Royale' mode, which allows 100 players to face a map where only one player (or team) ends up winning. Miguel Dias
