Russia presented as 5G's "fast follower"

By 2025, 80% of Russian territory will be covered by 5G networks. At the same time the technology will be responsible for supporting one in five mobile communications in the country, predicts the GSMA Intelligence.The results of the Mobile Economy: Russia and CIS 2018 study indicate that, after five years of the commercial launch of 5G in 2020, there will be 48 million connections using the new network technology.The report's data, conducted in collaboration with LTE Union, also point to Russia leading the 5G rollout in the region. Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan are the other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries where strong progress is expected in the period up to 2025.The availability of 5G is being prepared worldwide by both telecom operators and device manufacturers. In Portugal there are intentions and some plans on the ground. Also recently circulated in the streets of Aveiro an autonomous minibus with fifth generation mobile links.
