Google Home Hub Scheduled for Release On October 9th, Promises A 7-inch Touch Screen With Voice Control
Since last month, rumors were around that Google has been busy developing a new smart speaker on the lines of Lenovo’s Smart Display and Amazon’s Echo Show. It was then reported that the USP would be a 7-inch touch screen attached to quite a large sized speaker. It was also revealed that its suppliers were based in Taiwan who had been notified to beef up the production speed of this Google speaker to meet the decided launch date at Christmas.
The reporting team at MySmartPrice has finally uncovered the complete specifications of this speaker along with its screenshots. According to the report, the smart speaker is all set to be named Google Home Hub and is going to offer a 7-inch screen. It will add another way of interacting with Google Assistant for the users.
Specifications and Features
As with all other Smart Home products from Google, the smart speaker also is compatible with all smart devices that are available in the market. It also provides an intuitive touch screen with voice control. The standard voice commands that work on Google Home devices will also work here with the additional advantage of a LCD screen.
The 7-inch screen will also be displaying important information including weather, time and even information related to daily commuting through Google Maps. There is a large full-range speaker and a mute toggle present behind this display. Google Home Hub may not be as large as the Google Home Max, however it does harbor the same square-ish shape and design philosophy. It also possesses the same Chalk White aesthetic which is a trademark of other Google smart speakers as well. According to the specifications page, a Charcoal variant will also be present in addition to the previously mentioned white model.
The features available through Google Home Hub are also better and more impressive than before and can be used to for improving security features through commands by pairing it with a Nest Cam. Not limited to security cameras, these controls can also work with other devices such as TV and lights.
Weighing only 480g, Google Home Hub will also allow access to Google Photos to the users, which can again be viewed through simple voice commands like, “Hey Google, show me my photos from Hawaii”. As far as the speakers’ connectivity is concerned, people at MySmartPrice report, “As for connectivity, the Google Home Hub will support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connection for what’s touted as high-performance streaming. The device also comes with support for a yet unspecified revision of Bluetooth. The display itself houses ambient light and colour sensors, but we did notice a conspicuous absence of a webcam on the specifications page.”
In the Google Home Hub box, there will be a power adapter, a warranty booklet and a quick start guide.
Price and Availability
The price of the Google Home Hub is yet to be confirmed whereas it might launch on October 9th in New York City, at Google’s yearly ‘Made by Google’ event. Further details and information regarding this smart device are expected to be unraveled then.
