Elon Musk confirms negotiations to privatize the company
In a blog post published this Monday, the 13th, Tesla CEO Elon Musk explained in more detail the opportunity he presented to privatize the company from a Saudi Arabian fund. According to Musk, the first contact to privatize Tesla took place in early 2017, with the talks having "taken off" with the purchase of 5% of the company's shares. After meetings with the director of the fund, Musk was guaranteed the interest in privatizing Tesla and that the process could be resumed without any problem. "I left the July 31 meeting with no question that [the deal] could be closed and that it was just a matter of starting the process. That's why I said that 'funding is secured' in the Aug. 7 announcement, "writes the Tesla leader. At the moment nothing seems certain and Musk says he is in "negotiations with the Saudi fund" and "with several other researchers" since he wants Tesla to have "a broad base of investors."
