MOTOROLA

New brand module brings support for 5G internet for your mobile phones

Moto Mods may not have pushed modular engineering into an era of prominence in the smartphone industry, but they are arguably the most successful proposal in this segment. Since the introduction of the first smartphone with support for these functional accessories in 2016, the company has already launched dozens of modules, such as the Hasselblad camera and the virtual assistant Alexa, developed in partnership with Amazon. However, none of them show the characteristics of the latest mod, which the company presented in conjunction with the new Moto Z3, this week. The smartphone is a phone with a 6-inch AMOLED display, 4GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The rear camera is dual and integrates an 8MP sensor and a 12MP sensor. The equipment will be available from August 16, but it is in the exclusive support for the new module that Motorola wants to set the competitive advantage against the competition. After all, this new Moto Mod contains a Snapdragon X50 modem that will give Z3 full 5G internet support. The module will reach the market in 2019 and it is possible that the technology will be able to develop support for older branded phones by then.Motorola clarifies that the modules will only be functional when 5G networks are active and it will be transmissible between users. What remained to clarify was the price of the module. The Moto Z3, meanwhile, will cost about $ 480.
