AI-powered Copywriting Tool Passes Turing Test
Alimama, Alibaba’s digital marketing subsidiary, has launched an artificial intelligence based copywriting tool which uses deep learning and natural language processing technologies to produce copies.
The tool analyzes sample content from Alibaba’s e-commerce sites Tmall and Taobao to produce 20,000 lines of copy in a second. The tool has successfully passed the Turing Test indicating that it is smarter than the other copywriting tools available in the market.
With increasing demand for quality content in the field of e-commerce to woo customers, the tool would act as a helping hand for copywriters who are running out of ideas and time to jot down copies. According to Alimama, “copywriting involves a certain degree of repetitive, low-value work that can be made more efficient.”
“The tool can reduce the repetitive and tedious copywriting workload for our teams,” said Shaozhang Ding, head of e-commerce for the Asia Pacific market at Esprit.
The AI-powered copywriting tool by Alibaba is used by for almost million times a day by popular e-commerce portals such as 1688.com, Mei.com, Taobao, and Tmall that are partner sites of Alibaba.
To produce a copy, users need to insert a link to the product page, and the tool would offer multiple copies for users to choose from. The tool also offers the options to adjust the tone and lengths of the copies depending upon the intent of the advertisers. It can produce copies having the tone as “promotional, functional, fun, poetic or heartwarming.”
This tool has been a part of Alibaba’s efforts to help small to business sized businesses. Previously, the Chinese conglomerate has launched an AI-powered video editing tool which could produce 20-second promotional videos in less than a minute and a smart banner designer tool.
