Netflix horror movie has smart home as villain

Among the various discussions about the potential risks of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) it is often pointed out that fears that intelligent homes may pose a danger to the respective inhabitants. This is a fear that is very explicit in one of the upcoming films to debut on Netflix, 'Tau'.The film tells the story of Maika Monroe, a young woman who is abducted by an engineer (Ed Skrein) to test her super-intelligent house-chilling voice (Gary Oldman). You can see the trailer above and see your fears about the future of smart homes to materialize.
'Tau' is not yet available on Netflix but is scheduled to debut on June 29th.
